Message from Chairman

Dear colleagues,

The Second Virtual Congress of General Practice/Family Medicine is the logical sequel to the first congress, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise, in terms of innovation and exchange of experience between about 1600 colleagues from 65 countries.

The strength and support we have received throughout the experience of the first congress, the immense testimonials of incentive, as well as the acquired know-how has turned the virtual congress into a reality with an almost need for continuity. And it is in that sense that we’re back on stage again to organize a virtual congress. This time we’re aiming towards better quality, a greater number of participants and a broader diversity of actively intervening countries, a larger amount of presentations, quality as a motto, and finally, a forum filled with contributions and an increasingly necessary and diverse exchange of ideas, which keeps up with the relentless evolution of the art of General Practice/Family Medicine.

Once again, there is no registration fee for the virtual congress, and the 3 month’s duration of the congress is suitable for participants to follow the activities of the congress in timely and relaxed fashion.

The generic theme of the congress: ehealth – empowering towards operational knowledge, unifies differing concepts under the same denomination: e-learning, e-communication, the empowerment of patients and professionals, and knowledge, that precious asset that health care professionals treasure.

Primary care physicians are only capable of providing the highest standards of medical care to their communities through a process of continuing training and evolution, within a holistic and human context that is characteristic of the specialty of General Practice/Family Medicine, and comprises the diverse evolutionary phases of the human person, of the family, and of society, and which carries the spirit of prevention, patient education and health promotion.

The concept of the universal nature of Medicine fits into the scientific program of a General Practice/Family Medicine congress, and we will bear in mind idea for the second virtual congress.

General Practice/Family Medicine is almost, in a universal way, considered the basis of medical assistance to the general population. Primary health care professionals are now being cherished by the health systems and acknowledged as their cornerstones.

In that sense, the organizing committee of the second virtual congress of general practice/family medicine considers it is necessary and important that the event takes place, even due to its inherent innovative spirit surrounding it.
And we’re proud of that, because of the pioneering nature of this project and by the commitment we put into our work, that we’re aware it is important.

That drives us and generates a huge amount of responsibility amongst all of us, without exception, and I am sure that in the end we will be ready to fulfil the aims and objectives we have set from the outset, to overcome the challenge, and the participants of the virtual congress will realize their precious time allocated to the activities of the congress was well spent.
